Iowa Considers Carrying Over Continuing Education

Some continuing education (CE) hours could continue on into forthcoming renewals if a proposed rule issued from the Department of Inspections, Appeals, and Licensing becomes final.

The rule would allow licensees who complete more than the required six hours of continuing education to carry over up to three hours of CE into their next renewal cycle. Hours relevant to laws and rules or infection control are content that could not be carried over. This rule would apply to all licensed barbers, cosmetologists, nail technologists, estheticians, electrologists, and instructors.

Speak up, have your say, and help shape your industry by submitting comments in support of, or in opposition to, the proposed rule. Email mary.collins@dia.iowa.gov before April 8.
