Oregon Increases Cosmetology Fees

The Oregon Board of Cosmetology (Board) has increased cosmetology fees affecting application, examination, original licensure, permits, renewal, and other administrative fees. The Board increased licensing fees as a necessary measure to cover the costs of the Board’s regulatory functions to continue to serve its members and protect the public. Application:

• Practitioner certificate: $30 per field of practice (previously $20)
• Independent contractor registration: $70 (previously $50)
• Freelance authorization: $35 (previously $25)
• Facility license: $140 (previously $100)
• Temporary facility permit: $70 (previously $50)

Examination:

• Oregon laws & rules: $45 (previously $35)
• Barbering: $45 (previously $35)
• Hair design: $45 (previously $35)
• Esthetics: $45 (previously $35)
• Nail technology: $45 (previously $35)
   

Original issuance of authorization to practice:

• Practitioner certificate: $35 for two years (previously $25)
• Practitioner certificate by reciprocity: $65 for two years (previously $45)
• Independent contractor registration: $140 for one year (previously $100)
• Freelance authorization: $140 for one year (previously $100)
• Facility license: $155 for one year (previously $110)
   

Permits:

• Temporary facility: $140 (previously $100)
   

Renewal of authorization to practice:

• Practitioner certificate: $65 for two years (previously $45)
  *Fee applies to each two-year renewal cycle even while in inactive status
• Independent contractor registration: $140 for one year (previously $100)
• Freelance authorization: $140 for one year (previously $100)
• Facility license: $155 for one year (previously $110)
  *Fee applies to each renewal cycle even while in inactive status

Other administrative fees:

• Delinquency fee: $50 for each year in inactive status up to three years (previously $30)
• Replacement of freelance authorization, certificate, license, or registration, including name change: $35 (previously $25)
