It’s August, and autumn is approaching. However, don’t forget that the change in season this year also comes with a change in license fees. ASCP would like to remind licensees of the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation that fee changes for barbering and cosmetology practitioners, salon and spa establishments, and schools will affect licenses that expire on and after September 1, 2023. We list the new fees for you below.
Initial Application Fees
- Practitioners: $50 (class-A barbers, cosmetology operators, estheticians, manicurists, eyelash technicians, and hair weavers)
- Mini establishments: $70
- Barbering & cosmetology “full-service” establishments and mobile & specialty establishments: $78
- Barbering and cosmetology schools: $380
Renewal Fees for Licenses with a September 1, 2023, Expiry Date (and later)
Practitioners (class-A barbers, cosmetology operators, estheticians, manicurists, eyelash technicians, and hair weavers)
- On-time renewal: $50
- Late renewal (expired fewer than 18 months): $75
- Late renewal (expired 18 months–3 years): $100
Mini-establishment Licenses
- On-time renewal: $70
- Late renewal (expired fewer than 18 months): $105
- Late renewal (expired 18 months–3 years): $140
Barbering & Cosmetology “Full-Service” Establishments, Mobile & Specialty Establishments, Mobile Establishments, and Specialty Establishment Licenses
- On-time renewal: $78
- Late renewal (expired fewer than 18 months): $117
- Late renewal (expired 18 months–3 years): $156
Barbering and Cosmetology Schools
- On-time renewal: $280
- Late renewal (expired fewer than 18 months): $420
- Late renewal (expired 18 months–3 years): $560
Other Fee Changes
- Laws and rules book: $14
- Student transcripts: $5
