New Jersey COVID-19 Update
RE: Services that require clients to remove a mask may resume July 2, 2020.
Permission to Practice July 2, 2020
New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy released Executive Order No. 157 allowing personal care services that require clients to remove face coverings to resume July 2, 2020, provided that clients wear a face covering at all times before and after the service. Examples of such services include facials, shaves, beard trimmings, face waxing, etc.
Professionals providing services to clients without face coverings must comply with DCA Administrative Order No. 2020-11 issued July 1, 2020, which addresses reopening protocols for cosmetology and massage and bodywork therapy services. Section B(4)(a) states:
“When providing a service that requires the removal of the client’s face covering, other than when a client is face down on a massage table, staff shall wear (1) a mask or face covering and (2) a face shield. When providing manicuring services, manicurists may elect to use a table shield in lieu of a face shield. Face shields, goggles and table shields shall be disinfected between each client.”
