The skin barrier is a complex system including the acid mantle, microbiome, waterproofing, and water retention compounds made by your skin cells. When any of these suffer, it can cause great stress and dysfunction in other parts of the system. Protecting and nurturing the barrier can allow the skin to normalize its activities and heal more quickly. In this video brought to you by Associated Skin Care Professionals (ASCP), Julie Longyear, herbal chemist and founder of Blissoma Botanical Beauty, shares how botanical ingredients in skin care can help repair, maintain and strengthen all the properties of the skin barrier function.

Harness the Power of Nature with Plant Based Skin Care
After watching "Harness the Power of Nature with Plant-Based Skin Care," I learned alot about how plants can transform skin from dry and inflamed to healthy and normal, which is incredible. Plant chemistry makes a difference, I definitely need to pay attention what is in my products.
For example, shea butter is highly effective. I use a lotion that contains it, works wonders for sensitive skin. It's important to use unrefined oils to get the best benefits.
I also discovered that paying attention to the skin barrier is crucial. Additionally, I learned that gentian is great for sensitive skin, so I'll definitely be trying that out.
