Kansas COVID-19 Update: Permission to Practice May 18, 2020

Kansas Governor Laura Kelly issued Executive Order No. 20-31 (https://governor.kansas.gov/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/EO-20-31-Implemen...) on May 14, 2020, implementing Phase 1.5 of “Ad Astra: A Plan to Reopen Kansas.” Under the Executive Order, nail salons, barber shops, hair salons, and other personal service businesses where close contact cannot be avoided may reopen May 18, 2020, but only for prescheduled appointments or by online check-in.

Indiana COVID-19 Update: Permission to Practice in Stage 2

On May 1, 2020, Governor Eric J. Holcomb issued Executive Order 20-26 (https://www.in.gov/gov/files/Executive%20Order%2020-26%20Roadmap%20to%20...), introducing Back on Track Indiana—a road map of five stages to reopen the state, with each additional stage subject to fewer restrictions and limitations than the previous. Per the order, personal service businesses, including spas, salons, barbershops, and massage therapy establishments, may begin operations one week following Stage 2.

Minnesota COVID-19 Update: Order Extension through May 17

There have been many changes in the massage therapy, esthetics, and cosmetology professions and communities in response to COVID-19 (coronavirus). ABMP, ASCP, AHP, and ANP have summarized below how COVID-19 has impacted Minnesota, from executive orders affecting business closures, to reopening protocols modifying practice procedures, to financial programs developed to aid the unemployed.

Iowa COVID-19 Update Correction

ABMP, ASCP, AHP, and ANP sent an email this week regarding back-to-practice dates for massage therapists, estheticians, and cosmetologists in the state of Iowa. Since sending that email, we are appreciative of those of you who responded seeking further clarification. We were able to talk with the Iowa Board of Massage Therapy Chair and the Board Administrator and sought clarification with the Governor’s office, as the state’s April 27, 2020, Proclamation of Disaster Emergency is confusing at best.
